There are many benefits from your involvement in the Reading With Our Future Fans literacy program, but none more important than reaching and teaching one child at a time to read!
"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go." -- Dr. Seuss

Reading With Our Future Fans started at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa. The Iowa Student Athlete Advisory Committee adopted Reading With Our Future Fans as a community service project. The athletes took "behind-the-scenes" pictures of their lives as student-athletes, for the purpose of creating books for beginning readers. What began as a project to motivate and excite a single, struggling six-year old reader, who happened to love the Iowa Hawkeyes, evolved into a growing program ready for deployment by NCAA universities and colleges across America.
Our dream was to make the books widely available to kids and schools, while maintaining total compliance with NCAA regulations. Reading With Our Future Fans sought the council of the Ice Miller Law Firm in Indianapolis, Indiana, to prepare a proposal of the Reading With Our Future Fans program approach. The NCAA reviewed our literacy program and provided compliancy guidelines enabling us to use photographs of athletes with remaining eligibility. Following this guidance, Reading With Our Future Fans can reach and teach kids across the country.
Our vision and mission are to motivate our youngest readers to reach their highest literacy potential by providing non-fiction books that excite, and promote literacy through college sports. Reading With Our Future Fans is dedicated to enlightening our young readers to the fundamentals of practice, teamwork, performance, and good sportsmanship, while showing the student athlete's commitment to academic excellence.
